PRIVACY POLICY FOR SUN SURVEYOR (ANDROID)

(last updated Jan 15, 2021)

This privacy policy governs your use of the software application SUN SURVEYOR ("Application") that was created by Adam Ratana ("the Developer") for the Android operating system. The Application is intended to provide visualizations and predictions for Sun, Moon and other related astronomical objects based on your location or a location provided.

This privacy policy is relevant to verions 2.4.11 and higher. For versions prior to 2.4.11, see this policy.

Note: this application uses the Google Maps APIs and is thus subject to Google's Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy.

What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?

User Provided Information

The Application does not have a registration process and no information is provided by the user upon use of the application. Purchase data is collected by the App Stores, of which limited information is provided to the Developer. This information generally does not contain the purchaser's name, address, phone number, or email address, and is not personally identifiable.

Information you voluntarily provide us when you contact us for help may include, but is not limited to, your name, email address, device version, operating system version, time zone, locale, and device language setting, if using the "Contact Support" feature. We may use the information you provided us to provide support requested by you.

Automatically Collected Information

The developer of this application can view crash and ANR (Application Not responding) reports which are collected by the Android operating system and sent to Google. Data comes from Android devices whose users have opted in to automatically share their usage and diagnostics data.

The app does not automatically collect other information, other than the location information stated in this policy (see the next section).

Does the Application collect precise real time location information of the device?

When you visit the mobile application, we may use GPS technology (or other similar technology) to determine your current location as part of the Application's core functionality. If you do not want us to use your location for the purposes set forth above, you should turn off the location services for the mobile application located in your device settings or in your mobile phone settings and/or within the mobile application by denying the app permission to access your location.

Background Location ('Always allowed') collection: Sun Surveyor collects location data to enable calculating sun, moon, and other celestial events for Widgets, when you have their location set to use 'Automatic/GPS', even when the app is closed or not in use. This is because widgets by definition update whether or not the application is open. Background location collection is not necessary for widgets (or the app) to function; widgets can still display information for locations that are manually set.

Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the Application?

Yes. Our intent is to share your information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this policy.

This application uses the Google Maps APIs and is thus subject to Google's Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy.

We may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:

Information provided to us when you use the "Contact Support" feature is NOT shared with third parties.

What are my opt-out rights?

You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling the Application. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.

Data Retention Policy, Managing Your Information

We will retain anonymous, aggregated, Automatically Collected information indefinitely. User provided information obtained from the "Contact Support" feature (emails) will be retained indefinitely.

We do not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with information without their consent, he or she should contact us at adam@sunsurveyor.com.
